SALVAGE
HIGHLIGHTS
Details:
The ship sank by the stern and afloat forward. Some 6,000 tonnes of
the valuable cargo of molasses were pumped out using the ships
pumps. After the cargo was removed, she was refloated with a 1ft freeboard.
The entire job took about one month.
Insider view:
Using the ships pumps and air compressors to pump out the cargo
was quite a novel approach. Ultimately, this job made Kasel Salvage.
We showed that we had the ideas and the creativity by being able to
work with the very limited equipment available on-site. Rainer
Kasel.
